![]() We cannot build walkable areas in Saudi Arabia. Why not do the same all across Saudi Arabia but actually make walkability and public transportation the main goals? We have annihilated many neighborhoods in Jeddah as part of major project to rebuild it. The only glimmer of hope that I've seen is that we have already set precedent for enabling large-scale urban development projects. This makes it hard to justify public transportation projects to investors and government because neither they, nor their parents have no idea what life without car dependency looks like. This is unlike Asia, US and EU which experienced some form of public transportation throughout their history. We moved from walking to driving cars directly when Oil was discovered. Saudi Arabia and most of its people have never experienced public transport before. There are also no mentions of "mixed-use development" - which is a very important thing to discuss in any walkability project - any where in the QoL program. ![]() If a measure of walkability is not being kept track of, then walkability is an afterthought. There are some mentions of walkability in the Vision 2030 Quality of Life program, but it is vague and it's not being tracked as an index the same way as other metrics like "Participation of people practicing sports on a weekly basis". There must be a royal decree announcing that a walkable Saudi Arabia is the future.Ĭhange will only happen if higher-ups want it to happen. I have some free time so I wrote my thoughts on why it will most likely not happen This was done by having the touch event be set to below characters.Īnyway.Yes they can but I doubt it will ever happen. Touch events where you didn't have to "activate" it, but simply walk into entranceways and have them transfer you to different locations. I used doors this same way a lot in vxace also. So long as it's doable, i guess that's all that matters. But again, using through seems to be the answer there. So i'm surprised to see that's not working in mv. It was really convenient, and i used it so often. "Same as character" would not allow you to walk on it, and I used above characters for things like hanging lights, vs lights I'd have on the walls. That means the event was below the character, and they could walk on it. Temporary buttons or symbols on the ground that appear with a trigger (like sigils actifvating from a switch). This could easily be done by simply making an event and using the tile as a graphic, and setting it as "below characters". In VXace, i used event tiles for passability things. I just assume that there are more situations where you want to use an event to change a ground tile than some other type of tile. ![]() I don't use tile graphics as event sprites very often, so I haven't experimented too much with it. ![]() One day I might be curious enough to dig into the code and figure out exactly what is going on there. But the priority might mess with that a bit. I always thought when you use a tile as an event graphic, then the passability of that tile is adopted by the event. But you'd still have to sort out the 'through' issue. It might work if you use the tile image as the event sprite and just change the priority to same as characters. An event with a tile as the graphic defaults to below characters, but you can override that. If the event is set to same as characters, you can interact with it from the next tile beside/above/below it. When you have an event that's set to below/above characters, in order to interact with it, you have to be standing on the same tile. I'm guessing your event was set to 'player touch' as the trigger? ![]()
